Terms of use
Stoke is free software that you run yourself. These terms cover Stoke (the panel, the launcher and the mods that come with it) and this website. By using them, you agree to these terms.
Free, and as it is
Section titled “Free, and as it is”Stoke is free. It is provided as is, without any warranty: we do our best to make it reliable and secure, but we can’t promise it will be free of bugs, always available, or right for your purpose. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage that comes from using it, including lost worlds or data. Keep backups: Stoke makes that easy.
From version 1.0, Stoke’s code will be open source, and its license will also apply to the code.
If you host a panel
Section titled “If you host a panel”A Stoke panel runs on your machine, under your control. As its host, you are responsible for:
- Your servers and what happens on them, including who you let in and how you moderate them.
- The games’ own terms. Each game’s server is downloaded from that game’s own source, and you accept its terms for it: for example, Mojang’s EULA for Minecraft (accepted for each server in the panel), and Valve’s and Iron Gate’s terms for Valheim. Mods and plugins come with their authors’ licenses.
- Your players’ data. Accounts, chat, voice and everything else your panel keeps stay on your machine, and are yours to look after under the laws that apply to you.
- Keeping it secure and up to date, using the tools Stoke gives you.
If you play
Section titled “If you play”Your group’s host runs the panel and its servers, and sets the rules there. Treat others well: harassment, hate and abuse aren’t welcome anywhere Stoke runs, and hosts have the tools to remove anyone who breaks their rules.
The Stoke launcher installs the mods a server runs and starts the game for you. You still need your own copy of each game, and you use it under that game’s own terms, including Microsoft’s and Mojang’s when you play Minecraft.
Other services
Section titled “Other services”Stoke works with services run by others, such as Steam, Thunderstore, Modrinth, Mojang, Microsoft and Cloudflare. Your use of them is under their own terms, and we aren’t responsible for them.
